Using Symbolic Interaction theory that analyzes social issues at a micro level, why do you think boys are given more freedom than girls by parents, who love their sons and daughters, equally? 4)—- Globally, there are three major recognized races in the world, Negroid, Mongoloid and Caucasoid. In America, the US Census Bureau recognizes five major races, Blacks, Whites, Hispanic, Asians and Native Americans. Each race treats their women, differently. Generally speaking and in the context of how you think each race treat their women better as whole, which race do you think treats their women with the most respect and why or why not do you think so? 7)—- In some countries, and yes including America, marrying your first cousin is legal. Seriously. To many of us, this is an incest. Agreed? Yes, ethnocentrically speaking. Keep in mind that American laws are based on legal vs. illegal acts, whereas laws of many of other countries that allow such marriage are based on morality. Which do you think treats women better, countries where the basis of their laws are legal vs. illegal or countries where the basis of their laws are moral vs. immoral?
8)—- In a Washington Post article, Fraidy Reiss said, “We [America] preach against child-marriage abroad. But thousands of American children are wed annually [in America].” (Washington Post, 2/10/17). Hypocritical? Yes, America is very hypocritical as are other countries. Welcome to Social Problems! In some states here in America, children as young as 12 years old are allowed marry, of course with parental consent or a court ordered age emancipation. Why would anyone want to marry a child? Do you know why? Sadly, it is girls who are obligated into these marriages more so than boys. This is an example of gender inequality, globally. 2 question: 1) What are your thoughts on these laws that allow 12-years old girls to legally marry in America? 2) After you graduate from college, what would you about this social problem, if you had the chance?
