The gender and racial ethnic groups in voting is important. Men and women are likely to differently vote for presidential candidates. In table 10.2 shows that he republican candidates are likely to receive men`s vote. On the other hand, the Democratic candidates have the women’s vote. Also, African Americans give their majority vote to the Republicans. As the years go on the vote percentages may differ a lot or not as much. In the article “New poll finds a 3.-point gender gap going into the midterms” also points out how men vote for the republicans as well. “Men, on the other hand, are narrowly more likely to vote for Republican candidates — 50 percent of male voters said they were more likely to vote Republican, compared to 45 percent who said they were more likely to vote for the Democratic candidate in their district.” Making sure that everyone votes is important because all the votes count. “Democrats have been more concerned with keeping blue-collar and white male ethnics in the party than with understanding women voters.” Democrats will continue receiving women`s vote. Voting for a republican or democratic candidate doesn’t matter as long as we vote for the person we think is bests.

For decades the turn out of young voters has been far below any other age group, the age group of 65 and older has made up more than half of the votes. While that is still true in the most recent election young voters seem to have risen from the blue. The rise of young voters is crucial for this nation’s future, and while some young adults ages 18-29 are still not voting this year the results of the elections are fighting that statement. According to a Vox article ” Young voters appear to have taken advantage of early voting in outsize numbers this year…” the numbers surpassed 2010 and 2014 elections. Many young voters do not realize the impact they can have for the country which is unfortunate because let’s face it elders will not be around for very long while younger people still have their whole life ahead of them.
There is a video I watched about a month ago that really stood out to me named “Dear young people, “Don’t Vote””
It is campaign video’s like these that should encourage young people to be apart of America’s elections, and to educate themselves politically. There is a part in particular at minute 0:18 ” Sure school shootings are sad, but I haven’t been in a school in 50 years. I cant keep track of which lives matter” This is one of many reasons why voting is so important , young voters are the difference whether it be an election to limit gun control or the statewide ban on plastic bags everything counts. “Those who are least likely to vote are younger, less educated, poorer and unemployed.” (Henslin 317) this 2018 election should be an eye opener to the entire nation to demonstrate young voters are now striving for a say in their country. By having younger people become more educated and not be afraid to cast a vote America will see changes that have never been accomplished before. Elder’s have a lot less to worry about like stated in the video “I’ll be dead soon” which is of course not a very nice way to put it but it is true. Elders want to make a temporary difference and have young people deal with the consequences they create. It is great that this years elections younger voters went out and made a difference.
